Introducing our Co-headteacher, Louis Everett, who looks after our secondary age groups and their excellent teachers.
There’s more information about his background on our website, but we also believe in the power of strong relationships – so we want to share his thoughts too! Let’s see what Louis had to say in our question and answer session:
Q. Hello Louis! We’d love to know what you enjoy most about new pupils coming to Reach Academy Hanworth Park.
A. Our initial home visits. I always look forward to starting to build strong personal relationships with students and their families and meeting them in our wonderful local community.
Q. What about Reach Academy Hanworth Park excites you most?
A. I’m excited to show what can be achieved with an all-through school, with consistently excellent teaching and the strongest of personal relationships.
Q. Which of the REACH values (reflect, endeavour, aspire, show courage, have fun) do you most connect with and why?
A. Courage: to see the inherent interest within the subjects students study, to have fun (another of our values) and to enjoy their lessons, they must show courage when faced with challenges. Doing the ‘right thing’ when it is hard is essential if children are to fulfil their potential.
Q. Did you have a favourite subject at school?
A. My favourite subject was History. I love the twists and turns in the narratives of the past but I am also fascinated by the way the past can be both so different, yet so familiar at the same time. Some things about the way human beings behave stay the same no matter how vastly different the context!
Q. What is one thing that makes a great school?
A. Great schools need strong personal relationships built on genuine mutual respect. This not only ensures students can maximise their potential but will create a school where they are supported and cared for every day.
Q. What is your favourite thing to do outside of work?
A. Spending time with my family, reading far too much History, and watching my beloved football club!
